ASHLEY E. WEEMS

COMPETITIONS

Basingstoke Horse Trials in Old Town, FL

All great streaks must come to an end and this, unfortunately, was the show to end Ashley's long streak of being in the ribbons. The show started badly with her making uncharacteristic mistakes in her dressage test.

To make matters worse, another lapse in concentration could not have come at a worse time on the cross country course when she hesitated at the water complex just long enough to get charged with a refusal.

Even though she was well out of the running for the ribbons, she refused to give up. Mud and Ashley put in a beautiful double clear show jumping round but it wasn't enough to overcome her earlier mistakes. They finished 18th out of 24.

They started out beautifully at the Pelican jump on Cross Country The bank was no problem but the water complex followed with a mental error on Ashley's part.
